Dear Fiends,
On Sunday, August 10th, in Georgia, East of the Sun captured two national book awards! In the Christian Market Book Award competition for Novel of the Year, my Korean War story won Honorable Mention, and in the Golden Scroll Awards, it brought home Third Place for Historical Novel of the Year.
Naturally, these announcements have filled me with joy, as well as gratitude. I’m thankful to the judges who chose my book above many other worthy titles, and I’m grateful for the hard work and love that my editor Cristel Phelps and publisher Deb Ogle Hagerty put into this project. I’m especially thankful to God for this beautiful and inspiring story so that I could in turn bless and inspire others with it. My motto, “Encouraging History,” points to my commitment to write and speak about uplifting events from America’s rich past in order to bless my readers.
